Resolute?

Great start to the year! I’ve been out auditioning every day since the beginning of the year and am hoping that soon I fulfill one of my new years goals by landing a national spot. I decided to make goals rather than resolutions this year, because honestly, I generally fail at resolutions by mid-January and have to reaffirm my resolution resolve at Chinese New Year. Having two new year celebrations so close to each other is definitely one of the coolest things about being multi-ethnic. That and the food.

But anyway…I have a few goals in place and am going to make a real effort to have them completed by the end of this year. No restart at Chinese New Year.

Although I reserve the right to a do over at Rosh Hashanah…it’s all depending on how things are going at that time.

Thanks, Santa!

The commercial shoot was yesterday! It went really well. I got ready, did my thing and was wrapped in about 3 hours. The crew and cast were all so sweet and encouraging, it made it really easy and fast.

After the shoot, I rushed into Hollywood for an audition and I’m hoping I’ll hear back after the first of the year. I thought I would be done for the rest of the year, but I have another audition today! Yay!

Resolved?

New Years Resolutions.  With the end of the year in sight, I’ve been reflecting on 2011 and considering what I’d like to accomplish by December 2012.  Something about making new years resolutions seems so clunky.  I’ve made them before but usually need do over by Chinese New Year in January and then completely forget them by Valentine’s Day. I think what I’ll do it make a list of short and long term goals.

It’s not a New Years Resolutions.  It’s long term goal.  I just decided to start it at the start of the new year.  Totally not the same.

Happy Days!

Happy December!

Yeah, yeah…it’s December. The end of the year is here, the holiday season is surprisingly close and my back account isn’t planning to cooperate with my gift list. Despite all these stresses, I have so many things to celebrate right now. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I got my first commercial shoot under my belt, my wonderful boyfriend celebrated his birthday yesterday and today is my parent’s 50th Anniversary. Just so much to be happy about so I’m going to focus on the positive and let everything else take care of itself.

Week 1: Done

It’s been a long week. Bootcamp started on Monday at 7:15am and my body has been sore since exact moment. As someone who is fairly foreign to regular exercise, I’m proud of myself for making it through the week. I almost had ‘screw you, I’m going home’ moment yesterday, but I sucked it up and completed the activity.

With a week of bootcamp under my belt and an exercise regiment in high gear, the next thing to tackle is my eating habits.  Of course, the day I decide to start my food overhaul I see this tweet:

@LATimesfood Are you taking the October Unprocessed challenge? lat.ms/pMeS4p

Serendipity!

Attempt to eat only unprocessed food for the month of October? This is a challenge I’m ready and willing to take on.  So I’ve signed the petition and I’m going to make a go of it.  I’ll read labels, put my Fooducate app to good use, and visit the news farmers market that opened today.

Of course, my first meal of the day was Cheerios, but I have to get rid of them! I can’t have them sitting around for a month!  At least they were Multigrain. I promise to do better at lunch and dinner.

Carmageddon

This weekend LA was supposed to be thrown into a tailspin because of “Carmageddon” The 405 was shut down over the weekend and everyone was losing there minds thinking there was going to be massive traffic jams and chaos all over the city.  Unfortunately, this didn’t happen.  Everyone heeded the warnings and stayed home.  Not only that, the construction is supposed to end early!  What a bummer.  This is Hollywood.  Everything is supposed to be over the top. We do things on a Michael Bay type scale. Epic proportions. Over budget and overdue.  Nope.  Not this time. Everyone did what they were told and the city went on doing what it does and nothing happened.  I’m kinda disappointed.  Maybe next year when they take down the other half of the bridge all hell with break loose.  Now that would be impressive.

Good Friday!

What an amazing day!

Today, I had a great audition. Best of all, I actual had sides! The previous auditions have been a little improv, a little interview, and a lot of ‘prove you follow the instructions given’. But today…SIDES! I like sides. I like being prepared before I go in the room…even if the sides are given to me 10 minutes beforehand. So I learned the script, made some decisions and this morning when I arrived at the office, the Casting Director’s instructions made me realize I needed to tone it down…a lot. When it was my turn I went in and did my best. It was a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to hearing back, being asked in for a callback…and booking!
Pssst…Hey Universe, are you listening? I’m manifesting here. Work with me, will ya? ;)

And the other awesomeness…New York State has approved Same Sex Marriage! Love prevails over all! Such wonderful news…let’s hope California can get it together and do the same.
Universe, let’s work on making this happen too. Sooner rather than later. Thanks again!

Almost There…

So Script Frenzy is about to start. I’m not exactly in the place I thought I would be 24 hours from the start but I’m okay with that. I wanted to have an outline done of an exact roadmap, but over the past few days, the fates have conspired against me. Of course, a trip to Vegas, facebooking and being a little sick didn’t help either.

Although I don’t have a few of the pieces in place, I did get some feedback from my writers group tonight and it was really positive.  They loved my story idea and the overview I wrote and gave me some great feedback that I will keep in mind as I work on my outline tomorrow.

Getting my acting career on track hasn’t fallen by the wayside…I know it must seem like that as my focus has been mostly on the screenwriting.  With acting a lot of what i’m doing seems like a case of hurry up to wait. That’s just a part of it. I still have a few pieces to put in place with that too, but the list is made and is #1 priority.  I’m encouraged not only by the number of my friends booking awesome gigs, but by the amazing support system I have in place. They so keep me from losing my mind in the face of my own doubts and feeling like I’m taking on this insurmountable tasks.

For now, it’s time for some rest.

The Oscars!

Well, tonight the Academy Awards are being handed out.  Since my invite to the ceremony seems to have gotten lost in the mail, I’m going to instead watch with some some friends.  It will probably be better than sitting in that stuffy Kodak Theatre.
