Just recently, I learned of a screenwriting class that was being offered at the local adult school. Although I don’t consider myself a writer, I thought, “it’s an actress’s responsibility to be aware of what goes into making a script, right?” That and, “who better to write a script for me than me?”
So I audited the first class and at the end, signed up.
The class material is really interesting to me…but now even more than before it seems like a herculean task just to write a screenplay. Story structure, plot points, interesting character journeys. It’s impossible. How a good movie gets written is nothing short of a miracle in my eyes. And just to prove how formidable an undertaking it is, I’ve decide to give it a try. Armed with notes from my first three classes, a few books and a lot of encouragement from my boyfriend, I decide to pick up the gauntlet that the Script Frenzy website has issued.
To write an entire full length 100 page screenplay during the month of April.
So far, I have a main character, a love interest, an annoying kid sister and a very flimsy story arc. 16 days until the official start. I think I need to crack a book figure out exactly what I’ve gotten myself into.
